Applications of concrete according to the type of curb edge

Depending on the application that is going to be given to the curb edge, we find several types:

  • Curb edge for roundabout. They have sides with inclination so that the tires of the vehicles are not damaged in the event that they touch the curb edge.
  • Gutter curb edge. These are curb edges for surfaces intended for the circulation of vehicles, and are very similar to those of the road; but these, in the front part, contain a piece that is used as drainage.
  • Redirection curb edges. This is also a roadway curb edge, but it usually has a metal profile that helps to recover the direction of travel of the vehicles. This is useful when any vehicle leaves the road.
  • Gully curb edges. Like the previous ones, these are also roadway curb edges. These curb edges have a recess to collect drainage water and thus channel it and take it directly to the sewage system.
  • Pedestrian curb edge. The main function of this curb edge is to delimit two pedestrian surfaces of different kinds, which may be of different colors and finishes. Sometimes, they can be manufactured so that cars can circulate at low speed.
  • Garden curb edges. These are curb edges with smaller dimensions, and are used to separate the garden area from the passage area, but they are also used to delimit planters or the area of a swimming pool. In addition, these curb edges can be used as decorative elements, such as the finishing of a wall, delimiting the contour of a tree or as a finishing of the steps of stairs, for example.
